FACULTY OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND THE INDUSTRY

On the 20th February 2013, the Faculty of Business Management (FBM) had the opportunity to have two discussion sessions with representatives from Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad and Ardent Education Consultants Sdn Bhd, respectively. The discussions were timely as it is the aspiration of UiTM’s Vice Chancellor that the university has a firmer and more effective linkage with the industry.

The discussions ended on a positive note and that further meetings would be held to ensure the desired objectives are met.

The next day, FBM had another fruitful meeting with representatives from Innovation Associates Consulting Sdn Bhd and CareerXcell Sdn Bhd of the iA group. The companies are keen to engage in a meaningful relationship with the faculty especially in providing internship and career opportunities for FBM students and fresh graduates as well as research collaborations with academicians from the faculty. A total of 6 initiatives have been identified and would be explored further to bring a significant outcome to both parties.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INTERNATIONALIZATION AGENDA

The Faculty of Business Management is embarking on a more aggressive internationalization agenda so that the faculty and UiTM can benefit from the international linkages generated with foreign universities and industries. 

 

Discussion with Mr Andrew Paltridge


Recently, the management of the faculty had a discussion with Mr Andrew Paltridge, who is the Director, International, from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia. The Queensland University of Technology is a highly ranked business research university in Australia. It is triple accredited by AACSB, Equis and Association of MBAs. In addition, it is a research-intensive university, focusing on areas such as, among many others, economics, finance, and entrepreneurship. It is hoped that with this meeting, the faculty will be able to collaborate with QUT and learn what it takes to become a leading research faculty, thus paving the way for UiTM to be a research -intensive institution. The faculty also hopes to develop close ties with QUT Business School in student exchange, joint PhD supervision, cohort PhD, and joint research programs.



 

Discussion with Mr Fred Ko You Sing


On 29th March 2013, the faculty had a discussion with Mr Fred Ko You Sing who is the Adjunct Professor of Management and IMBA Program Director from the Graduate School of Management of Communication University of China in Beijing. Mr Ko was accompanied by Mr Por Yew Guan who is the Regional Representative (Malaysia & Singapore) from the same institution. The Dean of FBM, Professor Dr Faridah Hj Hassan, led the discussion together with the management team from FBM, IBE and also AAGBS. The discussion ended on a high note where both parties agreed on collaborations such as student exchange, short courses, staff exchange, entrepreneurship and joint research.



THE LAUNCH OF FBM AND AAGBS ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM AND MOTTO "ACTUALIZING ENTREPRENEURIAL KNOWLEDGE IS OUR BUSINESS"

The Faculty of Business Management is pleased to announce that the Faculty of Business Management (FBM), together with Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School (AAGBS) has successfully launched the Entrepreneurship program and motto for both schools titled “Actualizing Entrepreneurial Knowledge is Our Business”. The event was held on 22nd May 2013 at DK300, UiTM Puncak Alam campus. It was officiated by Prof. Dr. Razmi Chik, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Entrepreneurship) of UiTM. At the event, the Entrepreneurship Blueprint was signed which marked a more aggressive and concerted effort by FBM and AAGBS in inculcating and enhancing entrepreneurship culture and spirit among staff and students from both schools.
